Restaurant General Manager – Upscale Casual Dining

San Francisco | $90,000–$100,000

McCall’s Catering and Events is looking for an experienced Restaurant General Manager to help open, operate and lead an exciting new project in San Francisco.

We currently operate six high-volume cafés, restaurants and coffee bars across the city and have built a strong reputation for high standards, excellent service and quality food over more than 46 years in business.

This is a great opportunity to join an experienced hospitality team and play a key role in the successful opening and ongoing operation of a new upscale casual dining concept.

The role

As Restaurant General Manager, you’ll lead all aspects of the restaurant, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, strong team performance and an excellent customer experience.

You’ll work across both front and back of house, helping maintain high standards across service, food quality, productivity and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily front- and back-of-house operations alongside department heads
• Deliver high standards of food and beverage service and maximize customer satisfaction
• Respond quickly and professionally to customer concerns
• Organize and supervise shifts
• Review staff performance and provide regular feedback
• Support recruitment, training and development of new and existing employees
• Monitor product quality and work with vendors where required
• Manage operating costs and identify ways to reduce waste
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety and restaurant regulations
• Prepare weekly, monthly and annual revenue and expense reports
• Support the restaurant’s image within the local community
• Assist with restaurant events and local marketing activity
• Implement policies and procedures that support effective restaurant operations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar
• Strong customer service experience in a management role
• Excellent knowledge of food and beverage operations
• Experience across both front and back of house
• Strong food and wine knowledge
• Experience with restaurant management systems such as Square, Toast and OpenTable
• Good financial management skills
• Strong leadership, organization and problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication and people management skills
• Experience in event planning and social media is an advantage
• BSc in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or culinary training is a plus
• Food Handler certification and ABC certification
• Good knowledge of food health and safety regulations
