Together, we're improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.Work Schedule: This is a PRN/Casual position, hours will be "as needed", start and end times can varyJob Duties/Responsibilities:Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slideProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when neededMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Histology OR a Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 1 or more years of histology experiencePreferred Qualification:Current or prior Labcorp experienceHistology and/or ASCP certificationsAdditional Job StandardsFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipmentImmunohistochemistry experienceComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detailExperience working in a high volume laboratory environmentFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testBenefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
