Carpenter

Necessary carpentry duties include but are not limited to wood and metal framing, blocking, drywall patching, hanging doors & hardware, trim, specialties, temporary walls, etc. Requires knowledge of the trade. Primary Job Functions Planning and laying out of projects. Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions. Use of a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable powertoolsand standard measuring instruments. Able to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work. Selectionof necessary materials for the job. Training and experience usuallyacquiredthrough a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces. Assistsothers as part of the maintenance team asrequiredand performs other duties assigned according to personal qualifications. Improves andmaintainsthe overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls,woodworkand fixtures.Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paintrequiredfor different applications. Preparesurfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices,paint with a spray gun or brush. Has their own tools Education, Experience and Certification Required/Preferred Description Required High School Diploma Required/Preferred Years of Experience Description Required 5 years Required/Preferred Preferred License/Certification Certificate Description Technical or Trade school certificate in related field. Working Conditions Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand forlong periodsof time, constant arm extensions. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc. Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlookrequired. Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired. No People Management No Travel Requirements No The rate for this position is $32. This position may also be eligible for a wide range of benefits based on applicable bargaining unit agreements.
