Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a school-based nurse, supporting student health and safety for the upcoming academic year. This full-time position involves working 35 hours per week, with the contract running from August 11, 2026, through May 20, 2027. You'll work collaboratively with school staff and build meaningful connections with students near Aylett, VA.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current, active Virginia RN or LPN license required
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric/community health settings highly preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassion for students with diverse needs
- Ability to respond effectively to medical situations, administer daily health care, and support health education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to students, including medication administration, emergency management, and routine health procedures
- Triage health concerns and provide first aid within the school environment
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Develop and implement individual health care plans for students with chronic conditions
- Participate in student health screenings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal health outcomes
- Educate staff and students on best practices for disease prevention and wellness
