This role conducts preventive maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs machinery, assists with equipment moves and installations, and performs building and structural repairs. The technician completes required safety inspections, operates forklifts and scissor lifts, and handles additional maintenance duties as assigned. A valid driver’s license is required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Perform one or all the following types of maintenance work:Electrical, plumbing, welding, fabrication, and carpentryPerform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that production machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorateRepair or replace defective equipment parts and reassemble equipment to working orderDiagnose mechanical problems, determine how to correct them, and repair as appropriateMove and relocate current machinery and install new machineryOperate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal partsPaint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, drywall, and other parts of building structures.Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and emergency lights and address other safety concernsOperate a forklift and scissor liftValid driver’s licenseOther maintenance duties as assignedWORKING CONDITIONS:Some work is performed on the production floor, which can be noisy and dusty, as well as hot during the summer. Some work will be performed outside, and climate will depend on season. Some work will be performed in a climate-controlled office. Proper personal protective equipment is provided by STC when necessary.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work will be performed from a standing position. Work will require a large amount of walking. Work will include pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and carrying large/awkward objects. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push carts loaded with up to 200 lbs.Level 1-Maintenance Technician:Entry level of proficiency in one or all the following: electrical, plumbing, welding, fabrication, carpentryMaintain a safe and healthy work environment. Identify opportunities to improve safety in all areasBasic knowledge in the use of a variety of tools ranging from common hand and power tools (hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devicesHands-on mechanical abilityGood customer service skills to work effectively with co-workers and users of the equipment and the facilityValid driver’s license required to drive STC vehicle locallyLevel 2-Maintenance Technician:Includes Level 1 plusMinimum of 1 year experience at Level 1. Or comparable experience with PLCs and CNCsAbility to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specificationsProficient in the use of a variety of tools ranging from common hand and power tools (hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devicesAbility to troubleshoot equipment problemsUnderstands controls systems on equipmentExcellent customer service skills to work effectively with co-workers and users of the equipment and the facilityAbility to work independentlyLevel 3-Senior Maintenance Technician:Includes Level 2 plusFollowing standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulationsMaintain the function and reliability of manufacturing systems and associated equipment by performing reactive machine maintenance. This includes but is not limited to mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairing of manual and automated equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts; operating and testing systems and equipment to validate repairsTroubleshoot and perform required electrical maintenance on motors and controls, analog and digital devices, computers and PLC’s, CNC controls, safety circuits, power supplies, robotics, mechanical and hydraulic systems, CNC machines and, and other equipmentProvides continuous improvement ideas related to cost savings and safetyContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, in the effort to increase the runtime of the entire facilityUnderstand of ladder diagrams/logic and competent in the programming and troubleshooting of programmable controllersIn-depth skills with fabrication, welding, machiningUnderstanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as well as drawings of such systems to facilitate repair effortsAbility to utilize precision instruments in either Metric or English measurement systemsEffectively communicate through written communication to address maintenance repair needsExperience planning, scheduling, and ordering materials for all types of electrical or mechanical jobsAbility to document electrical changes and or new installations through written information and/or printsAssist with prioritizing work with leads and supervisorsProactively work within L2L (CMMS) to ensure accuracyAre you ready to join a different kind of company where our people, our culture, and our commitments are centered around providing trusted solutions that improve lives around the world?Total RewardsThe compensation range for this position is $48,000.00 - $72,000.00, depending on experience.
