Aspiring RN Clinical Intern - Emergency Department

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as a Clinical Intern in the Emergency Department. Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will engage in a variety of patient care activities tailored to meet the developmental and age-specific needs of patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist patients with daily hygiene including bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming. Provide skin care while taking precautions to prevent skin breakdown. Support physical activities such as repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers. Help meet nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and ensuring dietary restrictions are followed. Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately. Perform sit baths, postmortem care, and apply therapeutic devices like ted hose, K-pads, ice packs, and binders. Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives and teamwork. Carry out technical procedures and nursing interventions within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and patient assessments. Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, maintain NG tubes, and educate patients and families alongside the primary nurse. Maintain clear communication with the primary nurse and promptly report any changes in patient condition or concerns. Document all patient care activities thoroughly and accurately in medical records and designated forms. Education Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed a nursing program without meeting licensing requirements. Experience Entry-level position; no prior experience required. Certification/License Not applicable. Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands considerable mental focus and frequent physical activity including heavy lifting, turning, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, and occasionally hostile individuals. Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids is expected.
