Location: Location: Brooklyn, NY / NYC Metro Project Sites

Project Location: This position will initially be assigned to a major construction project in Brooklyn, NY . Upon completion of the project, the Project Manager will transition to other major project sites throughout the New York City metropolitan area based on project needs. They have an office right next to the site.

This is a full-time, on-site construction management position and requires the ability to work at active project sites throughout the NYC Metro area.

Compensation: $190,000–$225,000+ base salary, depending on experience plus choice of Company vehicle or car allowance and bridge and toll allowance.

About the Opportunity

A leading NYC-area specialty mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager to manage major commercial and institutional plumbing projects throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

This position is ideal for a Project Manager who has spent their career working for a mechanical or plumbing contractor and has personally managed the plumbing scope of large, complex construction projects from preconstruction and procurement through field execution, commissioning, and closeout.

The company performs large-scale mechanical construction throughout the public and private sectors, including complex commercial, institutional, infrastructure, and high-profile NYC projects.

Responsibilities

The Plumbing Project Manager will be responsible for the overall execution and financial performance of assigned plumbing projects, including:

• Manage commercial plumbing projects from start through completion , including planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling, field coordination, change management, and closeout.
• Take ownership of projects generally ranging from $4 million to $40+ million in plumbing scope.
• Review and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scopes of work
• Coordinate installation of domestic water, sanitary, storm, gas, drainage, piping, fixtures, equipment, and related plumbing systems.
• Work closely with field supervision and union trades to establish manpower requirements, sequencing, schedules, and installation priorities.
• Coordinate plumbing work with HVAC, fire protection, electrical, structural, architectural, and other MEP trades
• Manage material and equipment procurement, vendor relationships, subcontractors, and delivery schedules.
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, cost reports, project documentation, and project schedules
• Track project costs, labor productivity, material expenditures, committed costs, and overall project profitability.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, design conflicts, and potential cost or schedule impacts.
• Review site conditions with field teams and resolve issues affecting installation or delivery of materials and equipment.
• Participate in BIM/MEP coordination and review coordinated drawings to identify clashes and installation conflicts.
• Interface directly with owners, construction managers, general contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and public agencies.
• Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders and adjust manpower, procurement, and schedules as project conditions change.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable NYC codes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Drive projects toward successful completion on schedule and within budget

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction/project management experience , preferably with a mechanical or plumbing contractor.
• Strong background managing commercial plumbing construction projects
• Proven experience personally managing significant plumbing scopes, ideally in the $4 million–$40+ million range
• Experience with large, complex NYC or NYC Metro construction projects strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, piping, equipment, fixtures, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other construction documents.
• Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost control, procurement, scheduling, change-order management, and labor/manpower planning.
• Experience coordinating plumbing installations with other mechanical and building trades.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam/Adobe, and project management software
• Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination, or similar construction technology is a plus.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent extensive plumbing construction experience will be considered.

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked directly for a large mechanical or plumbing contractor and can demonstrate ownership of substantial plumbing projects.

The successful candidate should be able to clearly discuss projects where they personally managed the plumbing scope, budget, schedule, manpower, procurement, field execution, change orders, and client/GC relationships

This is not primarily a general construction management position. We are seeking someone with hands-on plumbing construction knowledge who understands how major plumbing projects are actually bought, coordinated, installed, managed, and delivered in the field. xhyhwjd
