Make a Direct Impact on Neonatal Care

Join a 118-bed NICU pharmacy team as a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist and provide specialized clinical pharmacy care to critically ill neonates. This is an excellent opportunity for a residency-trained pharmacist with strong pediatric/NICU experience who wants to work closely with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy colleagues while helping advance medication safety, clinical outcomes, and cost-effective care.

Schedule: 5 × 8-hour shifts, days
On-Call: Approximately every 8–9 weeks

What You'll Do

• Provide direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU environment.
  
  
• Develop, implement, and monitor clinical pharmacy programs focused on patient safety, quality, outcomes, and cost containment .
  
  
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on medication selection, drug utilization, and therapeutic management.
  
  
• Monitor and evaluate medication therapies, including utilization reviews for high-cost, high-risk, or potentially inappropriate medications .
  
  
• Participate in medication-use evaluations, restricted-drug programs, performance improvement initiatives, and cost-containment strategies.
  
  
• Support clinical research evaluating clinical and economic outcomes of medications and treatment regimens.
  
  
• Educate and mentor pharmacy students, residents, staff, physicians, and nursing teams.
  
  
• Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and clinical resource for less experienced pharmacists.
  
  
• Help oversee clinical students and the residency program.
  
  
• Identify opportunities to improve pharmacy services, workflows, and continuity of care.
  
  
• Assist with department leadership and supervision when needed.
  
  

What We're Looking For

Required:

• PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Pediatrics
  
  
  
• Dedicated NICU clinical pharmacy experience or significant NICU-focused experience obtained during PGY2 residency
  
  
• Demonstrated ability to provide clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates
  
  
• Active Texas pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure
  
  

Education:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or qualifying bachelor's/master's education with equivalent clinical experience
  
  
• ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency/fellowship or equivalent experience preferred
  
  

Additional Qualifications:

• Pharmacy sterile product certification through an accredited program or applicable in-house program
  
  
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy and hospital information systems
  
  
• Understanding of the healthcare reimbursement environment
  
  
• Excellent communication, teamwork, relationship-building, and leadership skills
  
  
• Strong commitment to patient-centered care and professional development
