Staff Engineer, Controls and Mechanical Date: Apr 20, 2026 General Overview Job Title: Staff Engineer, Systems/Applications Design Functional Area: Engineering (ENG) Career Stream: Design Engineering Systems/Applications (DSA) Role: Staff Engineer (SEN) Job Code: SEN-ENG-DSA Job Band: 10 Direct/Indirect Indicator: Indirect Detailed Description Define and govern system-level architecture across controls and mechanical domains Lead automation system design including PLCs, robotics, and material handling Manage engineering scope, schedules, and design reviews Oversee PLC/HMI/SCADA architecture and industrial networking Guide mechanical system design for throughput, safety, and maintainability Lead commissioning, validation, and system ramp‑up Manage vendors, integrators, and technical stakeholders Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives Preferred Qualifications Experience with ASRS systems and warehouse automation Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508) Leadership Skills Strong systems‑thinking and problem‑solving capability Ability to lead cross‑functional engineering teams Effective communication with technical and executive stakeholders High ownership and execution mindset Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Project delivery performance (cost, schedule, scope) System throughput, uptime, and OEE Engineering quality and defect reduction Cycle time and productivity improvements Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required.
