Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting.

The RN will deliver direct and indirect nursing care to patients across a wide range of ages and medical conditions, from postpartum neonates to geriatric patients.

This position offers exposure to medical, surgical, high-acuity, rehabilitative, skilled nursing, and pediatric care. There may also be opportunities to expand clinical skills in postpartum care, infusion therapy, wound care, and cross-training in the Emergency Department (ED) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to medical-surgical patients across various age groups and acuity levels.
• Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and identify changes in clinical status.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established protocols.
• Monitor patient responses to medications and treatments and address adverse reactions promptly.
• Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in rapidly changing patient care situations.
• Maintain infection prevention and control practices and ensure patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Provide compassionate care to medical, surgical, pediatric, postpartum, rehabilitative, and geriatric patients as appropriate to qualifications and competency.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect patient confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Participate in cross-training and expanded clinical responsibilities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Utah or compact-state RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• One to two years of medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, or ability to obtain them within one year of hire.
• Willingness to obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of infection control principles, patient safety techniques, and prevention of adverse reactions to medications and treatments.

Schedule and Work Environment

• Shift: Nights, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
• Rotation: Seven consecutive days on, followed by seven consecutive days off.
• Employment Type: Temporary assignment.
• Work Setting: Medical-surgical nursing in a rural hospital environment.
