Investment Operations Specialist Job Overview: The Investment Operations Specialist will provide technical advice and capacity development to member countries in designing, implementing, and evaluating investment operations that promote sustainable, inclusive, and resilient agri‑food systems. The role supports the FAO Investment Centre (CFI) and collaborates closely with FAO national representatives and international partners. Responsibilities Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams to assist governments in the identification, assessment, and preparation of investment operations in food security, nutrition, agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation and/or mitigation; participate in pre‑appraisal and appraisal missions. Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams for implementation support and preparation of final evaluation of investment operations. Advise governments or provide technical expertise in preparation of sector studies, strategies, and formulation of national sector or sub‑sector investment plans and programmes (for consultants only). Support the development of inclusive and sustainable food systems, involving producers, their organizations, private sector actors, civil society, and government entities. Lead the formulation or delivery of monitoring and evaluation, communication, and capacity development strategies and activities in the relevant sectors; support investment staff and private sector organizations. Prepare reports in accordance with government and financing partners’ requirements. Promote international cooperation and collaboration leading to new investment opportunities and agreements; advocate best practices and provide technical expertise at international meetings. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Advanced university degree recognised by IAU/UNESCO in economics, agricultural economics, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, agribusiness management, natural resource management, irrigation engineering, rural infrastructure engineering, communication, social sciences, international relations, or a related field. At least one year of professional experience conducting agricultural or rural sector analyses, and/or in planning, designing, supervising investment operations, including feasibility studies and implementation in developing or transition countries. Working knowledge (level C) of English, French, or Spanish; limited knowledge of another language is an asset. FAO Core Competencies – Technical/Functional Skills Experience leading or participating in multidisciplinary teams for the preparation of sector studies and for implementation support or evaluation of investment operations. Experience in analytical studies and programme evaluation of food security, nutrition, agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation/mitigation. Experience in investment design, implementation support, and evaluation procedures of FAO's main development partners (World Bank, IFAD, EBRD). Experience in capacity development for design and implementation of investment programmes. Demonstrated experience dealing with government officials, development partners, and other stakeholders.
