Job DescriptionVCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center is a 24-hour Specialty and Emergency hospital located in the heart of San Diego. We have a new state-of-the-art, 26,000 sq ft building. We have top-of-the-line equipment, such as MRI, CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, and Digital Radiography.\n\nLocation: 7675 Mission Valley Rd, San Diego, CA 92108\nWe are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Oncology team.\n\nSchedule: Tuesday - Friday 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM\n\nSalary: $ 26.50 - $ 35.00 / hour. We take pride in what we do and are looking for a motivated individual who is willing to work with a strong team of individuals in a fast-paced environment. We are currently looking for an experienced Credentialed Technician (RVT) to join our Neurology team. You will provide additional support for our Board Certified Neurologist as part of this department. We are looking for someone with the following skills:\n\n Strong critical thinking skills\n Client communication skills are a must: technicians obtain histories, present treatment plans, review discharge instructions and medications, and provide client education on more complex disease processes treated by Internal Medicine.\n Strong patient restraint and handling skills. Experience with recumbent, non-ambulatory patients is preferred.\n Monitor and perform treatments for patients requiring intensive management, recognize significant changes in the patient’s condition, and notify the Doctor.\n Experience in monitoring patients under anesthesia. Strong anesthetic skills with critical patients. Experience with a surgical ventilator.\n Run in-house lab samples and handle submissions to outside laboratories.\n Experienced with venipuncture and IV catheter placement\n Experience with specialized equipment care and use, and a willingness to learn new skills.\n Experience with MRI Studies is a plus!\n Assist the Doctor with ongoing dynamics of a specific case, including call-backs, prescription handling, medical records, etc. Strong communication skills.\n\n\n The information in this position description indicates the general nature and level of work to be performed.
