Job Overview Position: HR ManagerLocation: Maine Office - Portland, ME 04101 (in‑person)Reports to: Chief People OfficerJob Type: Full‑time Responsibilities Payroll Own and process weekly payroll for all employees, including manual and special payrolls. Process final pay for state regulations and import tips to timecards for shack teammates. Audit payroll deductions and timecards, resolve discrepancies, and implement continuous process improvements. Build systems and documentation to increase reliability and automation. HRIS Administration (Paycom) Maintain accurate employee records across all lifecycle events. Manage HRIS workflows for rehires, terminations, and monthly org chart updates. Own checklists, tasks, and accrual configurations; audit state‑by‑state onboarding checklists. Conduct Paycom training for managers and expand use of people data for leadership decisions. Benefits Administration Administer Cigna health, HSA, supplemental plans, and other benefits such as cell phone stipend, Hartford Life Insurance, 401(k), and pet insurance. Handle enrollment, terminations, changes, COBRA, payroll deduction tracking, and vendor invoicing. Partner with broker on open enrollment strategy, benefit guide updates, and overall plan management efficiency. Compliance Identify and execute reporting obligations across all operating states, including paid leave and short‑term disability. Manage recurring filings such as OSHA, EEO‑1, and year‑end 401(k), and conduct minimum wage audits. Administer unemployment claims, manage workers’ compensation communications, and lead HR workstream for new shack openings. Recruiting Support Provide operational support for shack‑level recruiting and HQ offer administration. Post and sponsor open roles, issue offer letters, and maintain position seat counts in ATS. Team Member Operations Manage Google Workspace access, provisioning, deprovisioning, group and calendar management. Support staff with account and operational questions, and build SOPs for supervisor ownership. Process employee verifications and provide a reliable resource for benefits, payroll, and other questions. Qualifications 4–7 years of HR generalist or people operations experience, ideally in a multi‑state, multi‑unit environment such as hospitality, retail, or food & beverage. Hands‑on payroll processing experience required; Paycom HRIS experience preferred but not required. Solid working knowledge of multi‑state compliance and an ability to identify knowledge gaps and research solutions. Benefits administration experience, including carrier management and employee‑facing support. Strong process improvement and automation mindset; comfortable owning and scaling efficient processes. Comfortable with people data and translating insights into actionable decisions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple moving parts without oversight. Clear, warm communicator translating HR complexity into plain language for managers and hourly employees. Self‑directed and comfortable working in a lean environment, building structure for others.
