The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting adults in a low intensity resident substance abuse treatment program. Working within a small team of 1 to 5 members, the technician provides patient observation, behavioral support, and crisis intervention with moderate autonomy. They assist in treatment processes, maintain accurate documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR), and contribute to ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

 

Responsibilities

• Observe patients and monitor behavioral changes
• Provide behavioral support and engage patients in treatment activities
• Intervene effectively during crises to ensure patient safety
• Document patient interactions and progress in the EHR system
• Assist clinical staff with treatment plans and therapeutic activities
• Communicate clearly with team members about patient status and concerns
• Monitor safety and report any risks promptly
• Collaborate within a small multidisciplinary team environment
• Collect and record relevant patient data accurately

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in behavioral health settings
• High School Diploma or GED
• Training or experience in crisis intervention and behavioral assessment
• Proficient in patient documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work well within a team and demonstrate emotional resilience
• Skills in conflict resolution and basic first aid
• Demonstrated empathy towards patients
