Respiratory Therapist Pediatrics Per Diem Tucson

Position Overview Banner Staffing Services (BSS) offers Registry/Per Diem opportunities within Banner Health. As a BSS team member you are eligible to apply as an internal applicant to any regular opportunities within Banner Health. When working per Diem you must work at least 2 shifts a month. We are looking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist for our pediatric team. You will work with diverse patients, ranging from simple oxygen therapy to advanced pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, body plethysmography, diffusion capacity, exercise challenge, and FeNO testing. The role is based at 535 N Wilmot Ste 101, Tucson, AZ, with a schedule of Monday‑Friday 8:00‑4:30 (must be flexible for late clinics). This is a BSS position that may offer 40 hours a week through May 2027. Responsibilities Perform all basic respiratory care modalities prescribed by physicians or licensed independent practitioners in accordance with department and hospital policies. Apply and manage mechanical ventilators, recommending adjustments to improve patient comfort and accelerate weaning. Assemble, disassemble, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and adjust durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care. Conduct pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed by established policies. Assess patients, evaluate responses to care, and recommend changes or modifications to therapy. Document therapy accurately and completely. Collaborate and communicate with resource staff to formulate care plans, identify problems, and recommend changes in therapy. Supervise department staff when required. Provide respiratory care and diagnostic testing in a variety of health care settings, and may be assigned to different areas throughout the system. Minimum Qualifications Associate or technical degree. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license: RRT required for all new hires after October 1, 2015; incumbents must have RRT by October 1, 2017. Current license in the state of practice is required. Blood Gas Technologist certification required for incumbents in Nevada. Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification. Valid driver’s license for home‑care settings and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for Banner Home Care/Hospice employees upon hire and throughout employment. One year of clinical experience and knowledge of clinical techniques, applications, and equipment in respiratory care. Highly effective human‑relation skills for interfacing with patients, families, staff, and other health‑care personnel. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience.
