Creative Director

The Creative Director at Moncur leads creative direction for client accounts, combining strategic hands-on work with day-to-day leadership as a Creative Lead. Based onsite in Detroit, MI, this role guides writers and designers while overseeing creative strategy, messaging, design, and digital strategy across traditional and digital channels. Creative Leadership & Client Strategy You will balance approximately 25% hands-on strategy and copy with approximately 75% leadership , setting direction that aligns creative quality with client goals. The role partners closely with Account Executives and Project Managers to establish project scope, approach, timing, and required resources, and works with Account Executives to ensure creative direction supports the overall project strategy. Creative Planning, Messaging, and Execution As a creative lead, you will demonstrate divergent thinking to develop effective B2B branding and marketing that performs across both traditional and digital channels. You will oversee the development of creative strategy, messaging, design, and digital strategy, and guide projects from concept through completion. Direction will be communicated clearly and concisely to the creative team, with collaboration that includes ECD, other CDs, and teammates as support is needed. Write Creative Briefs and onboard creative teammates to projects and accounts Lead development of strategy, messaging, design, and digital strategy Write and edit strategy and content for projects as needed Responsibly leverage AI for creative output, especially content Coaching, Standards, and Team Collaboration This role includes coaching writers and designers with clear, specific feedback. You will partner with the Creative Director and Content Lead to support standards for Moncur's written content. You will also maintain day-to-day collaboration across disciplines by fostering positive working relationships and proactively communicating project information and status to the appropriate teammates. Client Interaction and Presentations Interacting with clients is a core part of the position. You will take a lead role in interviews, creative presentations, and status meeting discussions related to creative topics, while building and maintaining positive client relationships. You will also develop and deliver engaging presentations for both internal and external audiences, bringing an energetic, storytelling, strategic, sales-minded approach. New Business Support and Sales-Minded Perspective You will participate in new business efforts as requested, maintaining a sales-minded point of view. The role also includes managing multiple projects and priorities while keeping teams aligned through proactive updates and collaboration.
