Environmental Protection Specialist I

The Environmental Protection Specialist I conducts regulatory inspections of schools, childcare facilities, swimming pools, and assisted living residences to ensure compliance with state food and sanitation laws. The position prepares inspection reports, enforcement recommendations, and provides training and compliance guidance to Local Public Health Agencies and regulated facilities. Based in Denver, this is a junior-level inspector role with oversight from a supervisor, requiring 80% travel including up to 30% overnight trips. Key qualifications Five years of professional experience in environmental health inspections or related field, or a combination of related college degree and one year of experience Experience conducting regulatory inspections in childcare facilities, schools, or retail food establishments Advanced interpersonal and conflict management skills with ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholders Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to analyze facts and data to reach logical conclusions and investigate complaints and outbreaks Bilingual Spanish/English preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr DGS Office of External Affairs
