Speech-Language Pathologist

Develop, manage and coordinate the speech-language program and needs of students with communication disorders while enabling each individual student to derive full benefit from the district's educational program.

Job Summary:

• Conduct Speech and Language Screening for all students new to the district and other referrals.
• Participate in kindergarten screening when appropriate.
• Participate in IEP conferences including the preparation of IEP goals and objectives.
• Provide evaluation information for the completion of comprehensive case studies including the administration and interpretation of speech and language assessments.
• Assist and or complete records for the evaluation of speech and language students.
• Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences as required.
• Periodically communicates with parents as needed to review the status of student progress.
• Participate in collaboration meetings as required.
• Provide information to parents regarding the speech and language program.
• Provide special education inservice and serve as a resource for the staff.
• Participate in Teacher Assistance Team meetings.
• Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to correct existing speech or language handicaps.
• Assist in developing speech and language curriculum modifications.
• Expand knowledge in areas related to the job role as Speech & Language Pathologist, (including technology applications) by such means as reading current literature on students with special needs, attending professional conferences and workshops and collaborating with other professionals doing similar work.
• Perform such tasks and assume such responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.

Qualifications: Certification and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and the School Code. Speech & Language endorsement required.
