Responsibilities Manage plant safety and risk programs to ensure a safe, accident‑free work environment. Implement safety concepts to provide an accident‑free workplace. Plan and/or deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. Promote plant safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements. Analyze accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented. Review regulations and insure compliance. Review incident reports and assist with corrective actions. Perform/review Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all plant positions annually. Maintain inventory of all plant‑required PPE and work to provide best PPE options. Maintain and enhance Health & Safety Programs, policies, and procedures through on‑the‑floor presence and employee engagement. Conduct inspections and audits. Work with Human Resources to assist with the Worker’s Compensation programs. Maintain up‑to‑date information by attending safety‑related training courses. Help facilitate annual safety training and provide safety training at new‑hire orientations. Participate in and facilitate plant safety meetings. Evaluate and present safety‑related plant projects. Participate in project meetings identifying safety risks ahead of project dates. Evaluate new equipment for safety hazards and develop lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Analyze historical data to identify root causes and patterns in safety. Follow up on corporate safety audit action items and manage the action log. Perform LOTO and confined‑space audits, fall protection inspections, and maintain associated programs. Risk assessment and site preparedness for emergency action plans. Prepare and participate in corporate safety audits. Serve as liaison for Safety Management Systems (SDS, Safe Link, Brady) and manage follow‑up. Supervise environmental compliance programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Assume overall responsibility for implementation and regulatory compliance of PSM and RMP programs, and assist in maintaining the integrity of the plant’s ammonia and related cooling process system. Evaluate environmental problems to develop methods and equipment to maintain regulatory compliance. Stay current with emerging environmental control technology and trends (BACT). Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Risk Management, Environmental, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred. Ability to read and interpret OSHA standards. Ability to develop relationships and effectively influence at all levels internally and externally (regulators). Strong strategic thinking skills with broad‑based business acumen and experience, with proven ability to identify opportunities and lead change initiatives. Ability to train and motivate others to champion Health and Safety success. Environmental reporting preferred. Excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritization, time‑management, organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays. Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Programmable Logic Controllers, and project & manufacturing software.
