Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and Level 4 NICU experience.

Details

• Work in the NICU at a children's hospital, providing respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, with a requirement to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model that will be explained during the interview, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
• Level 4 NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• VA state license required (license required if applicable)
• Nursys verification required with submission
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care for neonatal and pediatric patients including airway management, ventilator management, and medication delivery
• Skills include bubble CPAP, CPAP/BIPAP, high frequency jet and oscillating ventilators, intubation assist, and neonatal transports
• Experience caring for patients with conditions such as ARDS, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis preferred
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) required
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to return as permanent staff or internal travelers
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of submission
• No additional RTO will be approved after offer acceptance
• Any pre-start vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning
