Job Description

This role is a hands-on maintenance electrician / electro-mechanic position supporting manufacturing operations in the automotive and medical sectors. You will perform approximately 50% proactive and preventive maintenance and 50% reactive troubleshooting on a wide range of production equipment, including presses, molding machines, trimmers and facility utilities. Working on 2nd shift, you will help rebuild and strengthen the maintenance team by applying your electrical and mechanical expertise to keep equipment safe, reliable and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, cleaning and repairs on manufacturing machinery and equipment, including presses, molding machines, trimmers and related systems.
• Conduct daily rounds at the start of the shift, including inspection of boilers and water systems, and document findings and actions taken.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, switches, relays, contactors, starters, AC and DC drives and motors, ensuring safe operation up to 480 volts.
• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and mechanical blueprints to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Run conduit and install or repair outlets, breakers, transformers and lighting to support production and facility needs.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic valves and cylinders, replacing or rebuilding components as needed.
• Rebuild mechanical assemblies such as rack and pinion systems on presses, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
• Replace gears, pulleys and various belts on machines, exhaust fans and AC units to restore performance and prevent unplanned downtime.
• Perform utilities and facilities work (approximately 20% of time), including support for HVAC and chiller systems and other building infrastructure.
• Handle hazardous chemicals safely, using appropriate personal protective equipment and following established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records, logs and documentation related to inspections, testing, maintenance, installations and repairs for machinery and equipment.
• Use basic PLC knowledge (Allen-Bradley and Siemens) to assist in diagnosing control issues and support implementation of equipment improvements.
• Apply GMP, SOPs and other procedures in daily work to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance and safe operations.
• Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work orders, support shutdowns and complete repairs efficiently.
• Participate in overtime as needed, including some weekend work for repairs and planned shutdowns to minimize impact on production.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 5 years of related mechanical and electrical experience within food, beverage, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environments.
• Strong hands-on electrical troubleshooting ability, including experience working with all voltages up to 480 volts.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical blueprints.
• Previous hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting.
• Experience and knowledge of HVAC and chiller systems.
• Ability to handle hazardous chemicals safely and use appropriate PPE.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
• Ability to speak, read and write English to understand operating procedures and complete documentation.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills for measurements, calculations and equipment settings.
• Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office for documentation and communication.
• Demonstrated strong electrical and mechanical aptitude in an industrial maintenance role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Licensure in forklift operation, plumbing, electrical or boiler operation is a plus.
• White Boiler License is valued; if not currently held, the company will sponsor obtaining it.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs and field service work.
• Background in food, beverage, pharmaceutical or chemical operations is highly desirable.
• Ability to learn and implement GMP, SOPs and other facility procedures.
• Comfort working with controls, industrial automation and electrical troubleshooting in manufacturing environments.

The pay range for this position is $85737.00 - $85737.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
