Summary:

Seeking substitute school nurses to work on an as needed basis to cover our health offices when our school nurses are absent, to supplement our school nurses by assisting with screenings and with other nursing activities, and to provide nursing coverage for local field trips. Paid orientation/training is provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer scheduled and PRN medications and treatments
• Provide care and follow up for acute and chronic health conditions
• Provide emergency care for injury or illness
• Maintain student health records
• Communicate with parents/guardians, health care providers and staff, as appropriate.
• Follow individualized health care plans for students with chronic diseases.

Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in school nursing, pediatrics or community health required
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• Minimum of BSN preferred
• Current CPR/AED certification required
• DESE licensed as School Nurse preferred
• School Nursing/Pediatric/Community Health experience preferred
• Basic computer skills required
