Should have an inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing skills. Must also possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines. Keep up‑to‑date with emerging trends and technologies in software development. Seamlessly transition between hands‑on execution and team guidance, treating mentorship and team leadership as inherent components of senior‑level impact. Will work in a fast‑paced, small business environment with our talented team. Additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Security Clearance - A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start, but will be processed for a Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship required. 9 years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience. Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools like Helm and Flux. Strong Java software development experience. Experience in designing enterprise APIs. Experience in RESTful web services. Experience in Microservices architecture. Experience with the agile software lifecycle. Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting. Experience with the Linux operating system. Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven). Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams. Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2 days per week at our San Antonio office. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed. Preferred Requirements Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure). Experience designing and writing custom Kubernetes tooling like operators and custom CRDs. Experience with programming languages such as Go and Python. Experience with writing automation in CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI pipelines. Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full‑text search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr). Scripting experience is a huge plus. Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus. Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites.
