Communications Specialist

Rapp Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications firm specializing in issue and reputation management, is seeking an early-career communications specialist to join our collaborative, energetic and talented account team. This is an ideal position for a developing professional who is ready to grow in a fast-paced public affairs environment. We work with a diverse mix of clients, including businesses, trade groups, nonprofits and government agencies. Our specialties include strategic counsel, navigating complex issues, mitigating risks, reputation support and helping clients leverage big ideas to achieve their goals. We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong interest in public affairs and communications. In this role, you will support clients by developing original content, conducting research, contributing to communications and public affairs strategies, supporting community engagement efforts, tracking emerging issues and helping manage ongoing client projects. While relevant experience is helpful, we support and expect team members to learn on the job. Ideal candidates offer experience or interest in most of the following areas: Strong writing skills across formats − including earned media, social, print and digital − with the ability to translate complicated issues into clear, compelling communications for varied audiences. Research and synthesize information, including policy materials, detailed reports and opinion research, into clear, accessible communications. Experience or strong interest in quantitative and qualitative research, including surveys, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, message testing and public opinion analysis. Working proficiency in Microsoft Office and creative tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, website platforms (e.g., Squarespace) and video editing software. Develop and execute digital content strategies and media tracking, including social media planning and performance analysis. Ability to work on complex, fast-moving issues where sound judgment, adaptability and attention to detail are essential. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines, priorities and client needs simultaneously. Ability to think strategically about communications challenges and contribute ideas during planning, messaging and problem-solving discussions.
