Technology & Maker Services Specialist

The Technology and Maker Services Specialist is key to our guests’ experiences at the library. As the person our guests go to for assistance at our Technology Desk and in our Maker Studio, you make sure they get what they need, providing solutions and a wonderful user experience. You must love working with people, exhibit patience, and enjoy problem-solving. You’ll provide an amazing library experience to each guest by: Helping them be successful in using computers, software, equipment, and their own devices by providing information and basic instruction. Assisting them in the Maker Studio with their DIY projects and troubleshooting problems. Planning and presenting Maker and Technology classes Providing recommendations of devices, equipment, kits, and technology they’ll enjoy. Booking computers, equipment, and tech help. Troubleshooting equipment and assisting in making sure everything is working correctly so our guests have a seamless experience. We provide a dynamic, engaging team environment. Qualifications include: Experience teaching technology and/or in planning and presenting library programming. At least two years of work experience with the public At least two years' experience using computers in a work or educational environment Proficiency in using computers and other devices, including smartphones and tablets Reliable transportation A job description is available online or at the Guest Services Desk. This is a full-time position that averages 37.5 hours per week, including two evenings and a Saturday rotation, and some Sundays. The salary range is $21.10- $24.27 DOQ. Benefits include an IMRF pension plan and paid time off (sick, vacation, and personal). This is a year-round position. The Indian Prairie Public Library District is located in Darien, Illinois, serving 43,000 residents in the communities of Darien, Willowbrook, and Burr Ridge.
