Senior Tooling Engineer

Role Overview Senior Tooling Engineer at GE Appliances, a Haier company, located in Louisville, KY. This 100% onsite role interfaces with production line teams, tooling suppliers, 3rd Party Tool & Die Maintenance, and cross‑functional teams to optimize tool and part performance for the AP2 plant. Responsibilities Support AP2 plant in troubleshooting tooling issues and lead tool improvements. Manage tool repairs and drive process improvement within the plant. Liaise between NPI/Project teams, plant operations, manufacturing teams, and 3rd Party Tool & Die Maintenance, ensuring plant priorities are understood. Work with metal stamping tooling suppliers on best practice development, manufacturing process improvements, root cause analysis, problem resolution, cost analysis, and maintenance of existing tooling. Implement die TPM program to support production goals and objectives. Lead execution of tooling projects and provide technical leadership to support current production. Ensure tooling and equipment are reliable, robust, and designed to maximize OEE. Collaborate with product design/AME functions on metal component and assembly part design for manufacturability, scoping tooling costs, and schedules. Assist parts suppliers, supplier quality engineers, and buyers in developing new metal tooling/NPI while addressing current production tooling issues. Provide guidance, mentoring, training, and leadership for junior tooling engineers and cross‑functional team members. Drive continuous improvement throughout the organization. Serve as continuous support and liaison to 3rd Party Tool & Die Maintenance in AP2. Monitor and report tooling repair costs, projects, and preventative maintenance activities. Willingness to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including occasional off‑shift, on‑call, and weekend work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BS/BA) or currently in pursuit of one. Leadership experience or technical proficiency in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, materials management, quality, procurement, or fulfillment. Experience interacting with transfer press stamping equipment, transfer stamping dies/tools, and transfer systems. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on stamping tools, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and project execution. Experience leading or working with metal fabrication or automated equipment operations. Six Sigma certification and strong knowledge of Lean, DMAIC, and other improvement methodologies. Track record of driving results through analytical methods, project scheduling, and teamwork. Working Conditions The role involves normal office and manufacturing environment work, with extensive walking and lifting products up to 50 pounds. Safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, cut‑resistant sleeves, and work shoes/boots will be required.
