ALIYA of Oak Lawn is seeking a motivated and creative Activity Director to lead the planning and execution of engaging programs that enhance our residents' quality of life. This role is responsible for creating a positive, energetic environment where residents can thrive socially, mentally, emotionally, and physically while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee individual and group activities for residents

• Develop and manage monthly and weekly activity calendars based on resident interests, preferences, and needs

• Lead, supervise, and mentor Activity Aides, staff, and volunteers

• Ensure consistent resident engagement and participation in therapeutic and recreational programs

• Complete resident activity assessments and maintain accurate documentation, attendance records, and care plans

• Coordinate special events, entertainment, holiday celebrations, and community outings

• Collaborate with Nursing, Therapy, Social Services, and other departments to promote resident well-being

• Manage the Activity Department budget, supplies, and inventory

• Ensure activity programs comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS requirements

• Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming activity environment

• Encourage resident council participation and incorporate resident feedback into programming

• Develop programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of residents

Qualifications

• Certified Activity Director (ADC or equivalent certification) required

• High school diploma required; degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or a related field preferred

• Previous experience leading activities in a skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting required

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to develop and lead engaging, resident-centered programs

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to activity programming in long-term care
