Assistant Baseball Coach

Overview ACU seeks a Christian-affiliated Head Coach to oversee its DivisionI Baseball program. The Coach reports to the Head Coach and Vice President for Athletics and must support ACU’s mission and vision while ensuring compliance with ACU, UAC, and NCAA DivisionI rules and regulations. Responsibilities Recruitment of student‑athletes Identify and evaluate candidates who are athletically, academically, and spiritually compatible with ACU’s mission. Interview prospective student‑athletes, coaches, family, and friends to assess character, motivation, and work ethic. Review academic records and national test scores to confirm eligibility. Program administration Manage the baseball program budget and ensure fiscal stewardship. Maintain compliance with NCAA, UAC, and university policies. Coordinate academic support and scheduling to promote student‑athlete success. Student‑athlete development Implement comprehensive plans covering strength, conditioning, positional instruction, and game strategy. Monitor academic progress to meet eligibility, APR, and graduation standards. Foster communication, mentorship, and spiritual growth initiatives such as devotionals and biblical application in competition. Fundraising and alumni relations Identify donors interested in baseball and secure financial support. Maintain relationships with key donors and provide regular program updates. Promote ACU Athletics and the Baseball program through media, broadcasts, and public relations. Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Vice President for Athletics. Professional Development Requirements Skills Extensive baseball knowledge and ability to coach at the highest level. Excellent communication and motivational skills. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Training Attend coaching clinics, workshops, and sport‑related seminars. Review baseball fundamentals and practice organization through film. Study materials on communication, motivation, and coaching techniques. Qualifications Professional Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated mastery of baseball, motivational and communication skills. Ethics and integrity aligned with NCAA and UAC regulations. Personal Professing Christian with morals and ethics supporting ACU Mission. Positive role model in daily conduct. Physical Demands Perform baseball fundamentals during long workdays and outdoor events. Maintain cardiovascular fitness to endure practice and competition. Adopt a healthy lifestyle to meet job demands.
