Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Trauma

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Trauma unit. This position involves caring for patients post-surgically, including those recovering from spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic procedures, and trauma-related injuries.

Unit/Department Overview

• 27-bed unit focused on post-operative care.
• Patient conditions include spinal stenosis, craniotomy, and traumatic brain injuries.
• Staffing ratios of 1:6.

Contract Details

• Length: 26 weeks (preferably longer contracts of 26-51 weeks).
• Shift: 12-hour shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Rotation: One holiday off may be requested. Two federal holidays per year, plus one spring and two winter non-essential holidays.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a related field.
• Certifications: AHA BLS certification required at submission.
• License: Current RN license in Kansas or multistate license required; no hits allowed.
• Charting: Experience with Epic preferred, with a test-out option available.

Additional Requirements

• Flexibility regarding orientation start dates.
• Float to other post-surgical and med-surg inpatient floors may be required.

Compliance Requirements

• Immunity status for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella (verified by titer) or proof of vaccination completion.
• TDaP vaccine and influenza vaccine or exemption request during flu season.
• TB documentation required.
