Community Based Day Program Instructor

As a Community Based Day Program Instructor at our Salinas Activity Center, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through engaging activities, skill-building, and community integration. This full-time, weekday position offers a balanced schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing instruction and support to individuals in developing independent living, community, and vocational skills tailored to their abilities and goals.
• Implement and monitor Individual Service Plans (ISPs), ensuring all activities and supports align with each participant’s needs and program guidelines.
• Promote positive behaviors and adaptive skills through structured activities and appropriate use of time.
• Coordinate, document, and review daily and weekly activity schedules for program participants.
• Encourage community participation and inclusion by facilitating group and individual outings and experiences.
• Serve as a positive role model and advocate for individuals with disabilities, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Valid California driver’s license
• Ability to pass a LiveScan background check
• Reliable transportation
• Patience, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred
• Bilingual skills are a plus
• Background in education or direct support is a plus

Compensation

$23 per hour
