About the role
EHC is partnering with a client in the south Houston, TX area to hire an Actuated Flow Control Systems Engineer. You will be the go-to authority for specifying, validating, and supporting industrial valves and their actuators across complex piping systems—ensuring every selection meets project, safety, quality, and regulatory expectations while enabling engineering, procurement, and operations to move with confidence.
A day in the lifeYou begin by reviewing P&IDs and project requirements, turning process conditions into clear valve selections—gate, globe, ball, butterfly, control, and safety/relief. Mid-morning, you’re refining valve datasheets and material specifications, then collaborating with vendors to resolve technical clarifications and align on compliant quotations. In the afternoon, you support inspection and testing—FAT, SAT, and pressure tests—confirming that equipment is delivered to spec and to code (API, ASME, ISO). Later, you provide commissioning support for a new unit start-up, troubleshoot a control valve performance issue, and log a continuous-improvement action to enhance reliability on a recurring service.
Core responsibilities- Select and specify valves and actuators based on process data and applicable standards.
- Interpret project documentation (P&IDs, data sheets, valve specifications) and translate it into technical deliverables.
- Prepare and review valve datasheets, materials of construction, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with manufacturers on compliance, quotations, and technical clarifications.
- Support inspection and quality assurance activities: Factory/Site Acceptance Testing and pressure testing.
- Ensure adherence to API, ASME, ISO and other relevant codes and standards.
- Provide field support during installation, commissioning, and routine operation.
- Troubleshoot valve performance and failure modes; recommend corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance valve performance and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in valve engineering, piping, or mechanical systems (experience level may vary).
- Proficiency with 3D modeling and AutoCAD.
- Deep knowledge of industrial valve types, materials, and actuation methods.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO).
- Bachelor's Degree; Engineering Degree
