Onboarding Specialist

Position Summary
The Onboarding Specialist provides administrative and customer service support, and process guidance to FMCS participant employers. The primary role of the Onboarding Specialist is to assist in the facilitation of the hiring, onboarding, and training compliance process for FMCS participant employees aligned to requirements of the Maryland Development Disabilities Administration and FMCS standards and best practices.



Position Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• ssist FMCS participant employers to facilitate all steps required for new and rehire employee onboarding.
• Receive, review, and process new hire documentation with the mission to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, which include but are not limited to payroll-related forms and background screenings.
• Escalate any parts of the onboarding process which result in an adverse action.
• Verify and document expiration of State-required employee training qualifications/certifications to ensure programmatic compliance.
• ssist participants in completing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (US CIS) Form I-9 and verifies eligibility to work.
• Support the administration of employee benefits, as provided for by the participant employer as authorized by the participant's plan and budget.
• Respond to correspondence as it relates to onboarding activities, assigned service tickets, and escalated emails in the timeline outlined in the Customer Service SOP and/or FMCS contract.

Other Functions

• Maintain an understanding of program processes, requirements, and deliverables.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; BS in business or Human Resources preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Human Resources processing of new hire documentation, utilizing HRIS systems and applying basic employment law requirements.
• Strong attention to detail is required.
• Strong oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage positive communication in difficult situations.
• Outstanding customer service skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally.

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional remote and onsite office environment. Regular use of office equipment such as but not limited to, VoIP, printer, scanner, and computer.



Work Schedule
This position is a temporary, full-time role to provide coverage during the maternity leave for a team member. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with occasional evening and weekend meetings or events. This position is not eligible for remote work.
