Shop Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Shop Assistant to support our fabricators and welders in a fast-paced, hands-on industrial environment. This role involves a variety of physical tasks including material handling, equipment support, and general shop duties. Ideal candidates will be comfortable lifting heavy materials, using tools and machinery, and switching between different tasks throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist welders and fabricators by transporting materials and preparing work areas
• Lift and carry materials (50+ lbs regularly) throughout the day
• Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
• Read and measure accurately using a tape measure
• Work around and assist with industrial equipment including saws and overhead cranes (training provided if necessary)
• Perform a variety of tasks each day from general labor to assisting machine operators or assemblers
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE

Qualifications:

• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs routinely
• Experience in factory production, machine operation, assembly, automotive, or heavy industrial work preferred
• Comfortable working with tools, saws, and overhead cranes (or willing to learn)
• Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately
• Mechanically inclined and capable of learning new tasks quickly
• Dependable, adaptable, and able to work in a team environment
• Must be okay with a job that involves variety and changing tasks daily
