RN Operating Room PRN

Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway, TX Department: Operating Room Status: Full Time, 40 hrs per week Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM Bed Capacity: 40 Beds Call: Must arrive within 45 minutes Call Schedule: Fridays through Sundays divided between nurses (normally 3‑4 shifts per month and one weekend every 2 plus months). Weekday PTO coverage only Monday–Thursday. Experience: Minimum 1 year RN OR experience Operating Room Suites: 6 OR suites, 2 ENDO suites, and 1 pain procedure room. Case Mix: Primarily Neuro, Spine, Orthopedic, and general cases. Equipment: State‑of‑the‑art neuro equipment (Stealth Navigation, Mazor Robot, several O‑arms) and a DaVinci Robot for general and urology cases. The RN assesses patients, develops individualized care plans, evaluates responses, promotes safe passage, and delegates interventions according to the Texas Nursing Practice Act. Essential Functions of the Role Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, implement and evaluate care plans, and modify them as needed. Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, support evidence‑based changes, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Caring Practices: Provide an attentive, safe, and therapeutic environment; manage pain; maintain appropriate boundaries. Response to Diversity: Recognize and incorporate cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and other differences into the care plan. Advocacy and Moral Agency: Protect confidentiality, autonomy, dignity; resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Facilitation of Learning: Educate patients, families, staff, and the community; document learning outcomes.
