Pharmacy Manager 1, Ambulatory Care

Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager works closely with the Ambulatory Care Assistant Chief to establish and execute strategy for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Primary Care Services, Anticoagulation, and Population Health. This role includes identifying areas for improvement, developing new services, mitigating emerging threats, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining operational effectiveness and efficiency. The manager is well‑versed in accrediting agency requirements including the Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, and other necessary accreditations. They oversee all Primary Care Services, including pharmacists in clinic, supporting technicians, financial assistance programs, and other emerging programs. The manager participates in population health initiatives at UC Davis and UCOP, helps grow the pharmacy enterprise, and works with specialty and outpatient retail managers to drive revenue and prescription capture. Minimum Qualifications Current and unrestricted California Pharmacist License (out‑of‑state pharmacist eligible to apply, must obtain CA license within one year of hire). Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent training. Management or supervisory experience within ambulatory care, or comparable leadership experience. Completion of Post‑Graduate Year One (PGY1) residency. Knowledge of pharmacy practice and industry best practices for medication optimization. Ability to stay updated on pharmacy regulations, drug products, and research developments. Knowledge of all pharmacy federal and state laws and regulations. Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Conflict resolution skills and ability to counsel staff for cooperative relationships. Effective multi‑priority management in a complex environment. Adaptability and flexibility, with anticipation of change. Customer service orientation with empathy for patient issues. Operational organization skills to improve workflow and protocols. Collaboration across departments to coordinate daily activities and resolve problems. Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and staff. Analytical and problem‑solving skills for rapid evaluation of complex issues. Ability to resolve patient issues and find satisfactory solutions. Active listening and open‑mind incorporation of ideas. Competence with clinical documentation applications and pharmacy database technology. Knowledge of relevant information technology software in the pharmaceutical field. Preferred Qualifications Board Certification (e.g., BCPS, BCACP) or equivalent LEAN certifications. Master's degree (MS, MHA, MBA) or equivalent. Completion of Post‑Graduate Year Two (PGY2) residency. Completion of ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. Ambulatory clinical pharmacy experience. Primary care experience. Strategic planning experience. Knowledge of relevant pharmacy department, medical center, and UC policies and protocols.
