OSP Fiber Construction Project Manager

Position Overview The OSP Fiber Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic infrastructure projects. The role involves managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project delivery. The Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, utility companies, and local authorities to ensure fiber deployment meets technical specifications, safety regulations, and customer requirements. This is a field‑based position that requires on‑site presence, leading crews and keeping fiber construction projects moving. The Project Manager will supervise internal employees and external subcontractors. The current project scope is in the state of Ohio and the Project Manager is expected to travel throughout the state (75%+ travel). Job Duties Developing and managing project plans, timelines, budgets, and scopes of work for OSP fiber deployments. Overseeing permitting processes, including right‑of‑way (ROW), easements, and pole attachment agreements. Ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Supervising field construction activities, including aerial and underground fiber installation, splicing, and testing. Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and utility companies to resolve challenges in the field. Conducting site visits to inspect quality and progress, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory requirements. Tracking materials, equipment, and workforce deployment to optimize efficiency. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, internal teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Facilitating regular project meetings and providing status updates to leadership and clients. Addressing and resolving project risks, delays, and conflicts proactively. Ensuring all construction and installation activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, FCC, NESC). Ensuring proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned, including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues. Reacting safely and appropriately in emergency situations. Reporting and responding timely and accurately to the supervisor. Participating in employee and professional training events as assigned. Travel 75% for on‑site job duty training, projects, or meetings. Performing other related duties as assigned. Following all company policies, procedures, and work rules. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in OSP fiber project management, construction, or telecommunications infrastructure. Strong understanding of OSP fiber optic design, permitting, and construction processes. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (NESC, NEC, OSHA, DOT, etc.). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
