Vascular Access Registered Nurse - $32-48 per hour

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access for a nursing job in Saint Louis, Missouri. Specialty: Vascular Access. Discipline: RN. Duration: Ongoing. Employment Type: Staff. Hours for this position are 1900–0730. The Vascular Access Service provides care to both inpatient and outpatient populations at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care. Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participate in professional development. Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family; proactively plan and ensure communication of the plan across the continuum of care. Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care; assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care. Perform vascular access procedures, including placement of peripheral IVs (PIVs), midlines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines) using both traditional IV insertion techniques and ultrasound‑guided technology. Assess, maintain, and troubleshoot vascular access devices; restore catheter patency through evidence‑based interventions such as declotting occluded lines and addressing mechanical or positional issues. Promote continuous improvement of multidisciplinary care standards, safety, and patient outcomes across BJC by identifying, implementing, and sustaining innovative best practices. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing. Experience: None. Supervisor Experience: None. Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN). Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience: Less than 2 years in nursing. Experience with ultrasound‑guided vascular access.
