Role Description This part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner role is an on-site position based in Hillsborough, NJ. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, providing supportive counseling, monitoring treatment efficacy, and maintaining accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The role involves close collaboration with other mental health professionals, clear communication with clients and families, and active participation in care planning to ensure continuity and quality of services.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Mental Health Nursing and Nursing, with demonstrated ability to provide safe, client-centered care.
• Candidates should possess expertise as Nurse Practitioners, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
• Candidates should possess skills in Mental Health Care and Psychiatric Care, including experience working with diverse psychiatric diagnoses and levels of acuity.
• Active Nurse Practitioner license and appropriate national certification (e.g., PMHNP) required; eligibility to practice in New Jersey is essential.
• Experience in outpatient or community mental health settings is preferred, with familiarity in both in-person and telehealth care models.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, cultural humility, ethical standards, and ongoing professional development.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program; current BLS certification preferred.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with advanced practice certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Experience in outpatient mental health settings is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities.
• Proficiency in conducting diagnostic evaluations and treatments for various psychiatric conditions. (1 year experience preferred).

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.

2. Advance Practice Nurse License.

3. Psychiatric - Mental Health Nursing or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Certification.

4. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment.
