Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Surgical Short Stay – North Carolina

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 night shifts (1900-0700), every other weekend required (12 weekend night shifts per contract - Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6. Floating required as needed to inpatient surgery floors, holding areas, or medical floors.

Highlights:

• 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit caring for adult surgical patients, with most stays under 24 hours
• Diverse case mix including colorectal, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, maxillofacial, neurologic, orthopedic, plastic, urologic, and vascular surgical patients
• EPIC charting system utilized (experience preferred)
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• 24 hours of paid orientation provided
• Exposure to specialized equipment including wound vac systems, BD Alaris infusion pumps, PCA modules, and continuous bladder irrigation

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical experience required
• Short stay or 23-hour observation unit experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must be available to work holidays (2 of 3 major holidays required)
• Willingness to participate in storm team/hurricane team assignments and report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
