Job Title: Echocardiography Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Echo Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-hr Days, Rotates Days Off Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 1+ years of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) License: N/A Certifications: - ARDMS - Registered as American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers - RCS - Registered through CCI as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer - BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: - Ultrasound procedures - Patient assessment - Diagnostic techniques - Image quality evaluation - Documentation Description: This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac and vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures that utilize high frequency sound waves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease. Prepares exam room. Obtains informed consent and requests an accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam. Reviews patient history and determines proper selection of protocols. Explains the method of examination and positions the patient. Assesses the patient's status and needs, completes appropriate diagnostic techniques and tests to ascertain the patient's ongoing condition, and performs necessary interventions. Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered. Ensures quality images. Coordinates the preparation of images and exams along with the needed documentation for physician partners. Documents and communicates patient-related information thoroughly and accurately. Informs patients of physician's instructions or ancillary caregiver's observations or concerns and takes the same into consideration in providing appropriate care. Meets the needs of the patient, family, and multidisciplinary team through effective communication, coordination, and documentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy, and efficiency. Ensures safe and effective handoff between shifts by communicating clearly with the oncoming shift. Monitors equipment reliability and safety. Reports issues and/or repairs or service needed. Orders and stocks supplies, cleans rooms and equipment to maintain the work environment. Transports patients as needed. Actively participates in quality initiatives, including patient satisfaction, patient care, and workflow. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular attendance to perform work on-site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
