About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director/General Manager to lead its mission-driven, community-focused public media organization. The successful candidate will be the chief executive, responsible for the strategic vision, operations, and sustainability of the organization. This role involves setting and executing a forward-looking strategic vision, leading organizational transformation, and ensuring long-term financial health. The Executive Director/General Manager will oversee an ~$8M operating budget, lead fundraising efforts, and drive the diversification of revenue streams. They will also be tasked with maintaining high-quality, cross-platform content, upholding journalistic integrity, and expanding audience reach through compelling storytelling and engagement strategies. The ideal candidate for this role at the company is a seasoned executive with a strong balance of strategic vision and operational execution. They should have a minimum of 8 years of senior management experience, with a proven track record in leadership and fundraising, preferably in media, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizations. A Master’s degree is preferred, with a Bachelor’s degree required, and a background in media, communications, or marketing. The role demands an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader who understands the evolving media landscape and is passionate about the role of public media in serving communities. Experience in broadcasting, digital media, and emerging platforms is essential, as is a deep understanding of public media's mission, structure, and community role.
