Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician inspects and tests incoming raw materials and finished products, with a focus on disposables and electronics, to ensure full compliance with quality system regulations, ISO standards, and internal guidelines. This role documents non-conformances, supports continuous improvement of inspection processes, and contributes to maintaining high-quality standards in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming raw materials related to disposables and electronics using appropriate dimensional, visual, and functional test methods.
• Perform inspections and verification of finished products to ensure they meet all applicable specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct visual and dimensional testing, including leak, stress, punch/pull tests, and measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other metrology tools.
• Review inspection data and Device History Records (DHRs), including sterilization records, for accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
• Document and review inspection results in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements.
• Generate non-conforming material reports (NCMRs) for products that do not meet test specifications and promptly notify appropriate personnel.
• Process and inspect returned goods and materials (RGAs/RMAs), ensuring proper evaluation, documentation, and disposition.
• Use recognized sampling plans to determine statistically appropriate sample sizes for inspections and tests.
• Perform and review tests in accordance with various GMP protocols and established quality procedures.
• Review processes to assure procedural compliance and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and inspection efficiency.
• Assist engineering staff with process improvement projects, including First Article Inspections and qualification testing of products and components.
• Work across all quality assurance areas, including incoming quality control (IQC), finals, and electronics, as needed.
• Communicate departmental and company needs to management in a clear and timely manner.
• Execute and maintain documentation and records within the quality system and relevant ERP or documentation platforms.
• Inspect and test in-transfer products and document all non-conformances when necessary.
• Understand, follow, and consistently practice rules and regulations set forth by QSR, ISO, and internal company guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of previous quality control experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent work-related experience.
• Strong dimensional inspection skills using calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, torque tools, vision systems, optical comparators, OGP Smart systems, and other inspection and measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, product specifications, and procedures.
• Proficiency in visual and dimensional testing methods, including leak, stress, punch/pull tests.
• Experience with incoming inspection processes for raw materials and components.
• Hands-on experience with non-conformances and non-conforming material reports (NCMRs).
• Experience working with Device History Records (DHRs) and understanding the complete process on work orders.
• Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access.
• Ability to use metrology and other testing equipment for mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical testing.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and understand English clearly.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other departments and individuals in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous medical device industry experience, including work in clean room environments, is desired.
• Experience with JD or ERP systems for documentation and record-keeping.
• Background in troubleshooting quality issues and identifying root causes.
• Demonstrated go-getter attitude and proactive approach to problem solving.
• Ability to support quality control activities across disposables, electronics, and other product lines.
• Experience with quality control in regulated environments following QSR, ISO, GMP, and GDP guidelines.
• Adaptability to changing environments and evolving priorities.
• Ability to work overtime on Fridays when required.

Work Environment

This role operates in a regulated quality assurance environment that may include clean room areas and medical device manufacturing spaces. The Quality Control Technician works primarily on-site in inspection areas handling incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods. The position involves regular use of inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, torque tools, vision systems, optical comparators, OGP Smart systems, and other metrology equipment, as well as mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical testing devices. Work is performed within a structured schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with the ability to work overtime on Fridays as needed. The environment emphasizes adherence to QSR, ISO, GMP, and GDP standards, accurate documentation in ERP and quality systems, and collaboration with engineering and other departments in a team-oriented setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
