Contract To Hire Jan 20, 2026 Data Scientist About the Role
Our client, a world-renowned sports organization is seeking a Data Scientist to help transform basketball data into actionable insights. This role focuses on building machine learning models to generate advanced basketball statistics and analytics that drive decision-making and fan engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning models to produce new basketball metrics and insights
- Work closely with basketball analysts to ensure models reflect real-world game dynamics
- Deploy models and collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure scalability
- Translate complex data into clear visualizations and dashboards for internal teams
- Support ad hoc analytics projects as needed
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Background in machine learning, statistical modeling, or data science
- Understanding of basketball fundamentals (analytics knowledge)
- Ability to work with large datasets and model deployment pipelines
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred
- Exposure to streaming data tools like Flink, Kafka, or Kubernetes
- Experience in sports analytics or other sports data projects
