Residential Support Specialist – Behavioral Health

Location: Fairbanks, AK
Pay: Starting at $25.98/hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time and Part-Time Coverage Openings Available

Current Schedule Options:

• Full-Time Overnigh t: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM | Rotational schedule | Weekend shifts required
• Part-Time Coverage: Day, swing, and overnight shifts based on coverage needs, including 3:45 PM – 12:00 AM and 11:45 PM – 8:00 AM shifts | Weekend availability required

TDL Staffing is seeking dependable and compassionate Residential Support Specialists to support individuals in a structured residential setting. This role is ideal for someone who can provide a steady, responsible presence while helping maintain a safe and supportive environment for residents with behavioral health needs.

Depending on the shift, responsibilities may include monitoring resident well-being, documenting observations, responding appropriately to concerns or changing needs, supporting daily living skills, and assisting with routine residential activities. The ideal candidate is reliable, observant, comfortable working independently, and able to remain calm and use good judgment when unexpected situations arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor resident well-being and behavior, document observations, and report concerns as needed
• Monitor resident medication usage according to established procedures
• Support individual and group skill-building activities
• Help maintain safe, clean, and sanitary residential and common areas
• Assist residents with daily living tasks and provide guidance as needed
• Complete routine housekeeping and laundry tasks in staff and common areas
• Assist with meal preparation and resident meals
• Support planned activities and events
• Maintain accurate documentation and strict confidentiality
• Respond appropriately to resident needs, concerns, and unexpected situations

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Basic computer, data entry, and documentation skills
• Current First Aid/BLS certification
• Ability to communicate effectively and remain calm in challenging or unexpected situations
• Ability to work independently and relate professionally to individuals experiencing serious mental illness
• Must meet required immunization and health clearance requirements prior to starting
• Background screening is a part of the hiring process
• Must support a drug-free work environment

Preferred Experience

• At least 1 year of training or education in counseling, behavioral health, or social services
• Familiarity with Alaska Native cultures and rural lifestyles
