Job Title and Department Hand Therapist 2, Ambulatory Services | Healthy New Albany Physical Therapy Role Overview Team members are licensed or certified professional occupational therapists/certified hand therapists who work within a specific team structure to offer outpatient upper extremity rehabilitation services. They have comprehensive knowledge of the upper limb with function and activity and provide care to patients with orthopedic upper extremity problems, burns, and amputations. The occupational therapist/certified hand therapist reports to the Director and Program Director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center. Responsibilities Assess patients and establish plans of care. Provide a wide variety of treatment techniques. Educate and support families. Facilitate continuing care planning. Evaluate quality of services and participate in outcomes management activities. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications Licensed and/or certified with the respective profession and meet the educational and/or certification requirements established by their professions. All academic degrees must be earned from an accredited institution. All licensed professionals must be cleared through the National Database of Practitioners. Typically one to two years of experience working in a medical setting is preferred for all professionals hired. Occupational Therapists hired after August 2010 must attain and maintain hand certification no later than 24 months after eligibility is met.
