Solid Waste Transfer Equipment Operator

Performs duties operating a large semi-tractor trailer or roll-off truck and other motorized equipment and vehicles used in the transport of bulk solid waste material.

Salary: $43,680 - $52,748

Ideal Candidate: The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Department is seeking a Solid Waste Transfer Equipment Operator to operate semi-tractor trailers, roll-off trucks and other motorized equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in semi-tractor trailer operation. Preferably, candidate will possess knowledge of solid waste operations. Candidate must have the ability to be exposed to loud sounds in a waste transfer station, handle inordinate smells from trash and exposure to dirt-filled grounds. Candidate will also perform manual labor in outside environment, exposed to heat, sun, high humidity, rain and other adverse weather conditions. Candidate will walk/stand for prolonged periods of time (approximately six (6) hours) per day. The job also requires frequent fine manipulations, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasional bending, crawling, climbing and stooping. Candidate must possess a Class A Commercial driver's license and have the ability to pass a DOT/CDL physical examination annually.
