Supervisor, Juvenile Caseworker--Northeast Field Unit

Role Summary Coordinate and supervise intake, field service, and specialized program probation officers. Provide guidance and support as necessary, carry out probation officer job functions in their absence, ensure court directives and department policies are achieved, participate in policy development, oversee service delivery to clients, supervise interns, oversee grants and departmental contracts, collaborate with interagency and interstate professionals, and ensure compliance with Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide in‑service training for intake, court, field service, and specialized program affairs. Assign cases to probation officers. Conduct case audits and document progress of all current cases. Assist in developing case‑management plans. Ensure necessary data is collected for forecasting, statistics, and program evaluation. Prepare court reports for the court. Serve as liaison between the Juvenile Probation Department and courts, social service agencies, law enforcement agencies, schools, and other professional disciplines. Evaluate employees and formulate performance improvement plans. Provide coverage and ancillary support during staff absences. Participate in departmental planning meetings and various work groups to develop programs and policies and procedures; serve on inter‑departmental investigative teams to address allegations of abuse and neglect. Coordinate the internship program, supervise and train interns, and provide evaluation and feedback. Perform all other related duties as assigned or required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of case‑work experience. Eligibility for certification by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Valid Texas Driver’s License and auto liability insurance. Knowledge of applicable statutes. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift. Potential interaction with unpredictable and potentially violent clients, families, and the general public.
