• To plan and prepare meals that meet proper nutritional requirements.
• To ensure that food is stored and handled properly, and that the kitchen and all its equipment are thoroughly sanitary.
• To logs to track cleaning duties, and may also be responsible for ordering food and keeping records of those accounts
• must be able to work in a cooperative manner with other staff members, students, parents and funding agency personnel.
• They should be in possession of basic mathematical skills and must be able to accomplish accurate recordkeeping.
• must be able to work safely around stoves and chemicals while having the physical endurance to spend many hours standing, walking and lifting heavy objects.
• Deep knowledge of food storage, preparation and handling standards
• Operational knowledge of kitchen equipment, appliances and cleaning supplies
• Familiarity with food allergies and handling of food cross contamination issues
• Ability to order, procure and stock inventory of food supplies as needed
• Ability to communicate with staff, children and their families in a pleasant tone
• Interpret and follow public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation.
• Maintain proper food storage and sanitation of kitchen and food storage areas
