IT Support Specialist

The Opportunity The IT Support Specialist works as part of the geographically dispersed IT team to collaboratively manage support escalation requests from the Help Desk. The role includes deploying, maintaining, and supporting end‑user devices and systems such as desktop hardware, antivirus, patching, software deployment, video conferencing, and printers. This role is located in our Fargo, North Dakota office. What You’ll Do Upholds the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Ulteig. Acts diligently to ensure information security policies are followed. Installs, maintains, and supports end‑user technology, including computers, printers, phones, and software. Handles Help Desk escalations to provide problem analysis and resolution. Manages workload efficiently, prioritizes tasks, and completes projects within scope guidelines. May own IT support tools and/or processes. Identifies potential system improvements and presents them to IT management. Recommends standards for end‑user device hygiene and efficiency. Identifies user issue trends and escalates as needed. Creates technical documentation, including procedures, standards, best practices, break/fix solutions, and manuals. Works collaboratively with individuals at all levels in a team environment. Provides local IT hands‑on support to remote team members. May collaborate with external vendors. Complies with all company and client safety standards. Follows all company policies and procedures. What We Expect From You Associate’s degree in IT (bachelor’s preferred). Minimum of 2 years experience with a Help Desk or related IT support field. Extensive experience with PC hardware, software applications, operating systems, and network connectivity. Experience related to client/server security. Experience with imaging software (plus). Previous experience in an engineering environment (plus). Knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Office 365, and computer hardware. Well‑rounded knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, practices, and procedures. Logical analysis and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong analytical thinking and excellent customer service orientation. Hybrid role requiring on‑site work in the office three days per week. Openness to innovation, including evolving technology and AI tools. Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Infrequent travel required. Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Prolonged sitting with occasional walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
