PAY: $55,000 – $60,000 per year

THE ROLE

As an Assistant Project Manager (APM), you'll support the planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution of construction projects from handoff through closeout. You'll be the communication link between the Project Manager, Superintendents, Procurement, subcontractors, and clients — making sure projects stay on schedule, materials arrive when crews need them, and information flows accurately and on time.

This is a role for someone who plans ahead, sweats the details, and prevents problems before they start. If you're highly organized, thrive on follow-up, and want to grow into a Project Manager role, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Scheduling & Coordination (your core focus)

- Own and maintain the Master Project Schedule and prepare look-ahead schedules with Superintendents.

- Coordinate weekly schedules, track milestones, and monitor progress against plan.

- Identify schedule delays early and communicate them immediately.

- Coordinate inspections, subcontractor activities, and deliveries.

- Ensure long-lead materials are ordered on time.

Superintendent Communication

- Connect daily with assigned Superintendents to review status, upcoming work, and risks.

- Identify material shortages and manpower needs, document action items, and escalate issues to the Project Manager.

Subcontractor Management

- Solicit and review subcontractor quotes.

- Prepare and track subcontractor agreements.

- Process and track subcontractor pay applications.

Project Planning

- Assist with project startup and pre-construction planning.

- Develop and maintain project schedules and coordinate key milestones.

- Review project documents before construction begins and help identify potential risks.

- Prepare material take-offs to support ordering and procurement.

- Support manpower planning with Operations.

Procurement & Cost Control

- Work with Procurement to issue purchase orders, confirm delivery dates, and track vendor commitments.

- Flag material shortages and delivery issues before they impact the field.

- Support Project Managers by tracking budget updates, change orders, material costs, and labor progress.

Documentation & Client Support

- Maintain complete, accurate project records: RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, meeting minutes, schedules, material logs, inspection reports, and closeout documents.

- Prepare meeting agendas, follow up on action items, coordinate owner requests, and track commitments.

Project Closeout

- Assist with punch lists, warranty items, as-built documents, final photos, closeout documents, and final billing support.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Exceptional planning and organization — able to juggle multiple projects at once and prioritize under pressure.

- Strong construction scheduling skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication — comfortable working with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel.

- Sharp attention to detail and excellent documentation habits.

- A proactive, follow-through mindset that prevents problems rather than reacting to them.

Technology

- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).

- Bluebeam and construction management software — Buildertrend, Monday.com, and JobPower.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

An outstanding APM plans work before it begins, keeps Superintendents informed and supported, and prevents problems through proactive communication. You ensure materials arrive before crews need them, maintain accurate documentation, and flag risks early — freeing the Project Manager to focus on leadership and client relationships while projects stay organized and on track.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary: $55,000 – $60,000 per year
